Bartlett Expectations

At Bartlett Elementary, we want to provide a safe environment where all students can learn and grow.  To help create an optimal learning environment, we have established building expectations for all students.  We strive for all students to Be a Bartlett B.E.A.R!

This means that throughout the day and in all areas of the school, students will;

Be your best,
Everyone be kind,
Always be safe and
Responsible!

Students will meet these expectations through the use of the Habits of Mind.   The Habits of Mind are dispositions we foster in our students to help them be successful as students, while the ultimate goal is creating successful adults.  These habits are the thinking skills, or work habits and attitudes, that students will need when faced with a problem or situation they do not immediately know how to solve.  While we work to encourage and teach all the Habits of Mind, we emphasize those listed below for students working to Be a Bartlett B.E.A.R.

Listening with Empathy
Managing Impulsivity
Thinking about your Thinking
Persistence
Taking Responsible Risks
Striving for Accuracy
Applying Past Knowledge
Thinking Interdependently
Questioning and Posing Problems

Teachers explicitly teach and model these habits and expectations so all students learn what Being a Bartlett B.E.A.R looks and sounds like.  To celebrate student success and work toward these expectations, students can earn slips when they are Caught Being a B.E.A.R.  These slips are then displayed at the front of the school throughout the month.  A drawing takes place at the end of each month where ten Bartlett B.E.A.R.s are given a spirit stick. Come check out our bulletin board and all of our students who are Bartlett B.E.A.R.s!
