Dolsen Weekly

Hello Dolsen Families.  We held our annual Veterans Day Assembly today and it was a beautiful ceremony.  Thank you for the service to our country to all the Veterans that came and all those who couldn’t.

 Some important reminders:

Picture Retake Day – is this Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.  If your child missed picture day on Fri, Oct. 13, be sure to send them to school with the picture form (available in the office) and their best smiles on the 17th.  If you need to have your child’s picture retaken – be sure to send them to school with the picture packet that was taken.

Lost and Found – During conferences next week, please check our lost and found for any items that might belong to your family.  The lost and found is kept near the lunch serving area.  We will be donating everything to charity the week of November 20th.

Coat Exchange-  We will be starting our annual coat exchange beginning the week of Nov 13 through the end of December.  If you have used good condition coats, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens or boots that you would like to donate, bring them to the boxes in the lobby.  If you or anyone in your family needs a good used coat, hat, mittens/gloves or boots come in and look through our stock.  We will keep these available until winter break when we will donate all the items to charity.

Blue Out - November 14th is National Diabetes Awareness Day and South Lyon School District is supporting students with Type 1 diabetes with a school wide Blue Out!  (everyone wears blue!)

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is serious autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults. It’s unrelated to diet and lifestyle—and people with T1D must constantly monitor their blood-sugar levels, inject or infuse insulin and carefully regulate doses with eating and activity.  There are no days off from T1D—and there is no cure.

That’s why we’re raising money to help support the most promising, cutting-edge science to create a world without T1D.
You can support our South Lyon students with T1D by purchasing a shirt through the link below.  All proceeds from the shirts will go to Beyond Type 1.

**Shirts will be available for pick up during the weekend of November 11th-12th from 10am-6pm**   More information will follow.

Thank you for all your support!

A Note from our Helping Hands Club -  For the November food drive for Active Faith we are collecting crackers (graham, Ritz, Club, etc).  There is a box outside the office for donations.

Also, we are partnering with Scholastic for the month of November in the Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive to help kids in need. Schools have the PJ drive and Scholastic donates the books. For more info, read below and/or click on the link.

There will be baskets for both items located outside the office.

Thank you for teaching our kids the importance of "taking care of others!"

Mrs. Weakland, Mrs. Smith and the Helping Hands Club

Here are some simple guidelines for the pajamas: Pajamas must be brand-new. Pajamas in all sizes are needed—from newborn to adult. Pajamas must be in complete sets or nightgowns. Pajamas in children’s sizes must be manufactured as pajamas—this ensures that they are flame retardant and safe.
