South Lyon Schools uses a computerized system to keep track of payments and purchases in the Food Service Department. Each student has a unique Personal Identification Number. When the PIN is typed in, their school ID picture comes up on the computer to assure the correct account is charged. If the number is forgotten, the student can be looked up on the system by name. Some advantages of the system are:
No need to hunt up correct amount of cash each morning.
Households need only pay one bill for all of their children.
As a child progresses each year, any remaining balance will follow them as they change grades and buildings.
Warning messages regarding food allergies or restrictions are available to Food Service staff when child enters PIN.
Confidentiality is maintained for free & reduced students because all students are entering a PIN; no payment information is viewable to students.
Because our goal is to use no cash in the lunch line, we will not be giving out change, but crediting your account unless you specify otherwise. For example, if your child brings in a $20.00 bill to pay for a $2.00 lunch, we will give your child lunch and credit the account for $18.00.
Prepayment for lunches will allow us to use the system most efficiently and allow the lines to move most quickly. Please make checks payable to “South Lyon Community Schools”.
You may pay for as many meals as is convenient for you; total amount can be used to purchase breakfasts, lunches, milk or other food items.
If you have any questions, please call the Food Service Department at 248-573-8925.
