ITEM 5 HIRING OF INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF (click to view) Enclosure 2
Background Information: A retirement necessitates the hiring of a first grade teacher at Kent Lake Elementary.
Recommended Action: Approve the hiring of Elsa Musko effective January 27, 2014.
ITEM 6 BOARD OF EDUCATION RESOLUTION (click to view) Enclosure 3
Background Information:In summary, the resolution states that the District will comply with Public Act 53 of 2012 as codified in PERA Section 10(1)(b) and authorizes the District’s legal counsel to file an unfair labor practice against the SLEA for demanding to arbitrate a grievance that is an illegal subject under PERA Section 10(1)(b).
Recommended Action: Approve the resolution as presented.
ITEM 7 ACCEPTANCE OF GIFT (click to view) Enclosure 4
Background Information: Millennium Middle School received a check in the amount of $389.91 from Target Corporation, through the Take Charge of Education school fundraising program. This money will be used to purchase supplies for Cultures of Thinking.
Recommended Action: Accept the gift in accordance with policy 9350.

Background Information: Sayre Elementary School received a check in the amount of $972.63 from Target Corporation, through the Take Charge of Education school fundraising program. This money is allocated to support building assemblies and fifth grade camp costs.
Recommended Action: Accept the gift in accordance with policy 9350.

Background Information: South Lyon East High School received a check in the amount of $649.71 from Target Corporation, through the Take Charge of Education school fundraising program. This money is allocated to support student activities.
Recommended Action: Accept the gift in accordance with policy 9350.

Background Information: Kent Lake Elementary received school supplies from Novi and Southfield Providence Hospitals.
