A Vital Middle School
“Learning, a life long process, is the shared responsibility of students, parents, school staff and a community”.

Intelligence Without Instruction Is Like A Seed Without Water

Millennium Middle School is a varied society of learners. The Millennium Middle School population consists of approximately 900 students, 42 general education teachers, 6 shared elective teachers, 5 special education/resource teachers, 2 counselors, 2 administrators, 4 secretaries, a careers faciliitator, 1 restorative practices facilitator, 1 media specialist, 1 library clerk, 1 hall monitor, 4 food service workers, 2 building engineers, 6 custodians, 5 lunch aides and countless parents, relatives, and community members. All of these people pull together for a very simple mission…to provide the finest possible education for the children of South Lyon who attend MMS.

“People at Millennium Middle School Have Varied talents, Needs and Learn Accordingly.”

The Goal Is One. The Paths Are Many.

Millennium Middle School derives its greatest strength from the tremendous amount of human and physical resources available. Teachers continue their professional development through the year, taking classes and attending various training programs. All teachers participate in activities that enhance their ability to teach children well.

Parent volunteers donated over 1250 hours of time to help our middle school staff and students. Varied parent organizations play an integral role in the success of Millennium Middle School. Organizations such as the MMSPTO, C.H.E.E.R.S., and the Band Boosters enhance the educational experience of our children.

MMS also offers programs beyond the traditional classroom such as the Alternative Education Program (Bridge), Academically Talented (PLUS) Program, Intervention Module Program, Homebound/Hospitalized Services, Oakland County Youth Assistance, Special Education Services, School Psychologist, a School Social Worker, and Speech and Language Therapy. We pride ourselves for the ability to educate all students and to do so in a safe environment.

“Millennium Middle School Sets High Educational Goals and Strives To Achieve Positive Outcomes. Failure is not an option for our students.”

Excellence Is Never An Accident; It Is Always The Result Of High Intention, Determined Effort, and Skilled Execution.

Millennium Middle School is accredited by AdvancEd (formerly North Central Association).

Accreditation by AdvancEd means that the school has met the standards set for membership. These standards signify that the school has the resources, personnel, and leadership necessary for effective education and meets seven standards for accreditation. Our School Improvement Plan is based on a data driven model. MMS is committed to “quality with equity” a concept to improve the performance of all students. All of the subjects taught in the Middle School directly relate to the exit outcomes designated by South Lyon Schools and meet the guidelines and benchmarks of the State mandated core curriculum.
