We are proud to be only one of
three districts in the State of Michigan and only one of 73
districts nationally to receive the
prestigious Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) from the Association
of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for the
District’s 2006-07 Budget, and the only District in Michigan
to receive the award for twelve consecutive years. The MBA was
established in 1995 to encourage and recognize excellence in
school system budgeting. The program evaluates budget documents
against specific criteria. Budgets that meet or exceed these
criteria receive the award.
In addition, the District has
received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Report from
ASBO International for the past nine consecutive years. Less
than 5% of Michigan school districts have received this
prestigious award, which is the highest form of recognition for
a school district’s financial operations. This nationally
recognized program reviews and critiques district accounting
practices as represented in the Comprehensive Annual Financial
Report (CAFR) for adherence to sound principals and reporting
procedures.
