The board shall establish programs and procedures, which shall best produce the educational achievement needed by district students and to do so within the financial limitations of the district. The board will function as a legislative body in formulating and adopting policy, by selecting an executive officer to implement policy and by evaluating the results. Further, the board shall carry out its functions openly in compliance with the Open Meetings Act.

Board meeting agendas are provided at the meetings. They are also available the Friday preceding the board meeting in the superintendent’s office and on the district web site.

Board meetings are held at the Administration Building, 345 South Warren, South Lyon, at 7:15 p.m. Parents, students, staff and other community members are invited to attend these meetings. Doing so helps develop an understanding of the role of the board in developing and maintaining a quality educational program for children in the district. Any individual with comments or concerns about the programs and policies of the district may speak at a board meeting during two times reserved for community participation. The board values citizen participation and encourages community members to attend meetings regularly.
